Alexandra Kelly Named to Capital One Academic All-District Women’s Track/Cross Country Team

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (May 31, 2013) – Rutgers’ Alexandra Kelly (Florham Park, N.J.) was named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District Women’s Track/Cross Country Team it was announced this week by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The Capital One Academic All-America program recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Kelly was one of 13 student-athletes named to the District II team which comprises the states of Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, as well as Washington, D.C.  She will advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in June.

Kelly, who holds an undergraduate degree in English and is working towards a masters in special education, boasts a 3.96 cumulative grade point average  She posted her personal best of 48.21m in the javelin at the BIG EAST Championships as the runner-up in the event.  She claimed both the Georgia Spec Towns National Team Invitational and Fred Hardy Invitational titles and also had a second place performance at the Colonial Relays.  Kelly most recently finished in fifth at the ECAC Championships and 18th at the NCAA East Regional in her fourth NCAA regional appearance.
