Erica arrives at Rutgers as the Learning Specialist after working two years at Boston University as the Assistant Director/ Learning Specialist for student athletes. Prior to BU Erica taught Special Education in a multitude of educational settings across the country including San Diego, Chicago, and New Jersey. An All –State pitcher while in high school here in New Jersey, Erica went on to play softball at Fairfield University in Connecticut before having to hang up her cleats due to a serious back and rib injury. After graduating from Fairfield with a B.A. in Sociology and Education, she went on to California where she earned her M. Ed. in Special Education from the University of San Diego.
Here at Rutgers Erica meets one on one and in small groups with students throughout the year to develop their academic skills as well as help them with time management, note taking strategies, study skills, and organization. She works with the incoming freshman during the summer months in the Summer Bridge Program to help prepare them for the various academic challenges and issues they might encounter in college and to help with the transition from high school to the college level.
