PISCATAWAY, NJ – Junior Jeff Frazier (Toms River, NJ) slugged a solo home run in the third inning – one of three hit this afternoon – for his 32nd career HR, tying Pete Zoccolillo for the school record as Rutgers defeated Wagner, 13-2, at the Class of ’53 Baseball Complex.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers University head baseball coach Fred Hill announced today that Jason Downey (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Rutgers and play baseball beginning in the fall.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Making his first collegiate start, freshman Chris Rini (Flemington, NJ) took a no-hitter into the sixth inning as he and sophomore OJ DeChristofano (Pequannock, NJ) combined on a one-hitter for Rutgers, which edged Lafayette 1-0 this afternoon at the Class of ’53 Baseball Complex.

May-03-04 Jansen Named NJCBA Pitcher of the Week
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Sophomore Jimmy Jansen (Hillsdale, NJ) has been named the Division I New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association (NJCBA) Pitcher of the Week for the week ending Sunday, May 2. Jansen was 2-0 last week for the Scarlet Knights, who won four of five games, including two of three in league play, to maintain its first place standing in the BIG EAST Conference.

May-03-04 Rutgers Baseball Hosts Lafayette & Wagner in Midweek Contests
PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers baseball team, which has won 18 of its last 21 games, returns to action on Tuesday, when it hosts Lafayette at 3:30 p.m. at the Class of ’53 Baseball Complex. The game was originally scheduled for last Wednesday, April 28, but was rescheduled due to conference obligations for the Leopards.

BLACKSBURG, VA – In the rubber game of a pivotal three-game series in Blacksburg, sophomore Jimmy Jansen (Hillsdale, NJ) fired 7.1 strong innings in his first career BIG EAST start and senior Nick Cerulo (Woodbridge, NJ) hit a key, three-run home run in the fourth inning to propel Rutgers to a 10-3 win over Virginia Tech this afternoon at English Field.

BLACKSBURG, VA – Junior catcher Colin Gaynor (Toms River, NJ) blasted a three-run double and sophomore OJ DeChristofano (Pequannock, NJ) returned from injury to pitch 1.2 shutout innings for his first save as Rutgers outlasted Virginia Tech, 11-10, in game two, salvaging a split of today’s BIG EAST doubleheader in Blacksburg, VA.

April-29-04 Rutgers Pitches Its Way Past Monmouth, 4-0
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Five Rutgers University pitchers limited Monmouth to just four hits as the Scarlet Knights defeated the Hawks, 4-0, this afternoon at the Class of ’53 Baseball Complex. RU (23-15) scored twice in the first inning – the only runs it needed – and cruised the rest of the way for its second win of the season over Monmouth (19-23-1).
