RICHMOND, Va. (March 18, 2013) – Due to continuing poor weather in the area, the Rutgers baseball series finale at Richmond has been canceled. There will be no make-up date scheduled.
The Scarlet Knights took both games of the series behind last at-bat home runs against the Spiders. Junior Nick Favatella (Washington Township, N.J.) cranked a go-ahead long ball in the ninth inning of the series opener, while freshman Corey Lerche’s (West Nyack, N.Y.) first career hit was a dramatic homer in extra innings in game two.
Rutgers (5-9) is currently on its Spring Break trip in Virginia and is scheduled to take on VCU Tuesday and Wednesday at 6 p.m. The trek will end next weekend with a BIG EAST series at nationally-ranked Louisville.
