Rutgers (14-14, 6-3 BIG EAST) is coming off a 3-2 homestand to open Bainton Field for the season. The Scarlet Knights most recently dropped a series to Seton Hall, but still sit at 6-3 in the BIG EAST for third place in the standings. Senior Charlie Law (Mainland, N.J.) continued his hot hitting with seven hits and seven RBIs last week to put him first on the team with a .366 batting average and 20 RBIs. Law is batting .533 (16-for-30) with runners in scoring position this season. Classmate Jeff Melillo (Annandale, N.J.) collected three home runs last week, while sophomore Vinny Zarrillo (Forked River, N.J.) had three triples and two doubles.

Junior Slater McCue (Radnor, Pa.) will make his fourth start of the season against Fordham after a no-decision last week versus Columbia.

Fordham (11-19, 1-5 Atlantic 10) returns home after playing its last 12 games on the road, going 1-11 over that stretch. However, the Rams have a 9-5 record at Houlihan Park this season. Matthew Cianci paces the offense with a .281 batting average, while Charles Galiano has a team-high 15 RBIs. Head coach Kevin Leighton is in his second season.

Right-hander J.C. Porter is scheduled to make his fifth start of the season on the mound.

Rutgers has won the last three meeting against Fordham, including a 15-4 win last season at Bainton Field. The Scarlet Knights had two innings with at least six runs in the game, as Pat Sweeney (Sparta, N.J.) had three hits and three runs.  The teams played to an 8-8 tie at Bainton Field in 2008.

Rutgers will return home to face Cincinnati for its next BIG EAST series starting Friday. RU swept the series at Marge Schott Stadium in 2012.
