PISCATAWAY, N.J. (August 31, 2011) - Rutgers will play at least nine nationally televised games on the ESPN network (ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU), including six at home, to highlight its 2011-12 schedule. Under the leadership of second-year head coach Mike Rice, the Scarlet Knights will play 16 teams (15 NCAA, 1 NIT) that earned postseason bids in 2010-11, resulting in 18 of 31 games this upcoming season against postseason opponents.

The home, nonconference slate is highlighted by nationally televised games against SEC opponents LSU (Dec. 3/ ESPNU) and Elite Eight participant Florida (Dec. 29/ESPN2). The Scarlet Knights will also host Garden State foes Princeton (Dec. 7), Monmouth (Dec. 12) and NJIT (Dec. 22/23). The game against the Tigers, previously announced as Dec. 8, has been moved up one day to Wednesday, Dec. 7.

In BIG EAST Conference play, RU hosts West Virginia (Jan. 4), defending national champion Connecticut (Jan. 7), Notre Dame (Jan. 16), DePaul (Jan. 25), Cincinnati (Jan. 28), Seton Hall (Feb. 8), Syracuse (Feb. 19), Villanova (March 1), and St. John’s (March 3). The game versus the Fighting Irish will be televised live on ESPNU on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The contest against the Pirates will be on ESPN2 and the games versus the Orange and Wildcats will be on either ESPN or ESPN2. On the road in conference action, Rutgers opens league play on Jan. 1 at USF, before playing nationally televised games at Providence (Feb. 1/ESPNU), Notre Dame (Feb. 15/ESPNU) and Seton Hall (Feb. 25/ESPNU).
