PISCATAWAY, N.J. (October 14, 2009) – The Rutgers basketball “Tip-Off to Kick-Off” exhibition scheduled to take place this Friday (Oct. 16) in Athlete’s Glen prior to the football game has been cancelled due to the threat of inclement weather. Fans still have the opportunity to celebrate RU’s upcoming hardwood season on October 25, when the women’s team hosts “Meet the Team” at the Louis Brown Athletic Center that day from 12:30-2:00 p.m. before the men host “Scarlet Tip-Off” that evening at the College Avenue Gymnasium from 7:00-8:15 p.m.
The women’s “Meet the Team” event on Oct. 25 is free and open to the public. Fans will get their first chance to meet the 2009-10 Scarlet Knights, and will be treated to drills and a scrimmage, followed by an autograph session. The doors will open at 12:00 p.m. Festivities begin at 12:30 with the introduction of players and coaches. The Rutgers Pep Band and Cheerleaders will be in attendance.
The men’s “Scarlet Tip-Off” event on Oct. 25 is also free and open to the public. Prior to the 7:00 p.m. start, a pre-event barbeque for Rutgers students will take place outside the College Avenue Gym beginning at 6:00 p.m. The doors for the tip-off event will open at 6:45 p.m. Fans will be treated to player introductions, shooting contests, the popular cheerleaders versus dance squad game and a team scrimmage.

The men’s team begins the regular season by hosting Marist on Saturday, November 14, at 2:00 p.m. The women’s squad, coming off yet another Sweet Sixteen appearance, starts its 2009-10 campaign by welcoming Stanford to the RAC at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 15.
