PISCATAWAY, N.J. (October 22, 2009) – The Rutgers men’s basketball team will host “Scarlet Tip-Off” this Sunday (Oct. 25) evening at the College Avenue Gymnasium on the main campus in New Brunswick from 7:00-8:15 p.m. The exciting event, which will be preceded by a barbeque for Rutgers students at 6:00 p.m., is free and open to the public.
SNY television personality and Rutgers radio play-by-play voice Chris Carlin will serve as emcee for “Scarlet Tip-Off,” which will feature an intra-squad scrimmage, highlight videos, shooting contests and the popular cheerleaders versus dance squad game. The Rutgers Pep Band and D.J. Wallah will also be on hand to provide the evening’s soundtrack.
All attending fans will receive complimentary team posters, while students will receive their official 2009-10 “RAC PAC” t-shirts. All attendees will have the opportunity to meet the team and obtain autographs.
Rutgers begins its regular season at the RAC against Marist on Saturday Nov. 14. The schedule features 15 opponents that earned postseason berths in 2008-09 and a meeting with North Carolina in Chapel Hill. The slate also includes a potential meeting with 2009 NCAA finalist Michigan State in Atlantic City. If the Scarlet Knights meet the Spartans, the schedule will include both of the 2009 NCAA finalists, the entire Final Four, as well as six teams that advanced to the Elite Eight.
