PISCATAWAY, N.J. (October 29, 2009) - The Rutgers women's basketball team held its annual media day at the Louis Brown Athletic Center on Thursday morning.
Scarlet Knights Head Coach C. Vivian Stringer addressed the media on the upcoming 2009-10 season.
The Scarlet Knights, selected sixth in the 2009-10 BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll, return seven letterwinners and a pair of starters from a season ago. RU registered a 21-13 record in 2008-09 and were ranked No. 21 in the final ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ Poll. The program picked up its seventh straight 20-win season and 11th 20-win campaign under the Hall of Fame coach.
RU officially kicks off the 2009-10 campaign on Nov. 15, hosting Stanford at 2:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on Verizon FiOs1. The Scarlet Knights will play 14 NCAA Tournament qualifiers this winter, which includes six fellow BIG EAST members. In addition, nine squads on the schedule were participants in the 2009 Women’s National Invitation Tournament.
