PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers crew team members Helen Becz (Rutherford, N.J.) and Mary Gromlowicz (Hampton, N.J.) were recognized by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) for their excellence in rowing and in the classroom.
Becz and Gromlowicz both rowed in the first varsity eight for the Spring 2009 campaign, helping the Scarlet Knights to wins over such Eastern Sprints and BIG EAST rivals as Boston College, George Washington, Georgetown, MIT, UConn, Villanova and West Virginia, as well as several other non-conference opponents.
Becz and Gromlowicz, both class of 2011, are in their second year of rowing. Becz is majoring in History and Gromlowicz in Biological Sciences. In addition to rowing in the first varsity eight, both women maintained a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher for her career in order to be eligible for the CRCA National Scholar-Athlete roster.
