PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers women’s track and field team was recently recognized for its outstanding academic achievements by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Scarlet Knights were one of 131 Division I programs named to the list of All-Academic Track and Field Team. RU also earned a similar honor following the 2008 cross country season.
Rutgers maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.220 during the 2008-09 academic year. The BIG EAST led all conferences with ten teams selected. The selection of the All-Academic Indoor and Outdoor Scholar Teams of the Year award is based on a combination of academic and athletic achievements.
The Scarlet Knights capped a solid season, sending a pair of student-athletes junior Jessica Bandy (West Keansburg, N.J.) and freshman Alex Kelly (Florham Park, N.J.), to the NCAA East Regional during the outdoor campaign.
