Parking 101

Parking 101 is designed to help those who hold football priority parking passes better understand the process of how the parking passes are allocated.  In order to be eligible for a priority parking pass(es) you must be a football season ticket holder and an R Fund donor.  For any questions on the material below, please contact the Rutgers Ticket Office at (866) 445-4678 or tickets@scarletknights.com

Parking Allocation Process

Priority parking benefits are available to all football season ticket holders via the Priority Points program. During the renewal period, season ticket holders rank their parking location preferences, and requests are fulfilled in Priority Points order based on R Fund donations made by the April 30th Priority Point deadline. Parking pass eligibility is based on all three of the following:
1) number of season tickets purchased, 2) annual contributions to R Fund, and 3) Priority Points.

Each donors's football Priority Parking Points total plays a critical role in the final allocation of priority parking passes.  Meeting these point cut-off requirements and the minimum donation requirements may not guarantee that you will be allocated to the parking lot of your choice; Priority Points requirements vary each year for each lot, depending on the demand, and the Priority Points totals for other R Fund donors.

All R Fund donors requesting a priority parking pass(es) are put in order based on their Priority Points as of the April 30th football Priority Points cut-off.  Donors with the most points are allocated their parking pass(es) first, beginning with the highest priority lot(s) requested: Scarlet, Green, Yellow, etc... Once a donor is allocated the last parking permit in a lot, his or her Priority Points total is the cut-off for the lot.

Parking Allocation FAQ

What happens if I qualify for a parking lot based on my points, but I did not make the minimum annual gift to R Fund?

If the donor purchases the requisite amount of season tickets and has the required amount of Priority Points for their requested lot but did NOT make the minimum annual gift to R Fund for their requested lot prior to the April 30th cut – off, the donor is not eligible to purchase a priority parking pass in that lot.

Does my annual or capital pledge to R Fund count towards the minimum gift due for a football priority parking pass(es)?

Annual and capital pledge payments are due by the end of the fiscal year (June 30th) but the donor must make their pledge payment by the April 30th football Priority Points cut-off to receive credit towards the minimum gift due for football priority parking.  Football priority parking passes will be allocated based upon donations received prior to April 30th.

Can I donate more to R Fund to receive better parking?

Every donation made to R Fund prior to the April 30th football Priority Points cut-off will increase your Priority Points total, but this does not guarantee that you will receive your requested parking pass. Please note that if you donate more than the minimum R Fund gift due for your requested parking pass in an effort to increase your Priority Points but are unsatisfied with your parking assignment, your donation is non–refundable.

I am a new Rutgers Football season ticket holder but did not purchase my tickets until after the April 30th football Priority Points cut-off.  Am I eligible for a priority parking pass(es)?

New season ticket holders who purchase their tickets after this date will have the opportunity to purchase a parking pass in a non-priority lot for the upcoming season.

Can I make a donation to R Fund to earn Priority Points for a friend?

No.  We encourage all R Fund members and season ticket holders to establish an individual ticket account so their R Fund donations may accumulate Priority Points towards their football priority parking pass eligibility.

My employer will match my gift to R Fund.  Will this match count towards my minimum R Fund gift due for a football priority parking pass(es)?

The matching funds from your employer must be received by R Fund prior to the April 30th football Priority Points cut-off in order for it to count towards your minimum R Fund gift due for a football priority parking pass(es).

How can I keep my tailgating group together?

Tailgating with other friends and family members is easier if you’re in the same lot. However, we do not know who is in your tailgating group. You can request to have your parking pass(es) in the same lot as other members of your group.  The person in your group with the fewest points will be used to determine the location of the parking passes for your entire group.

The lot I requested has empty parking spaces on football game days, but I didn’t qualify for it. Why didn’t I get a pass in this lot?

We do not over allocate the lots, but we do sell the exact number of parking passes to correspond with the number of parking stalls in each lot.  There are donors who do not use their parking passes for every game, which is why some lots have empty spaces on game days.

How do I order parking?

Priority parking benefits are available to all football and basketball season ticket holders via the Priority Points program. During the renewal period, season ticket holders rank their parking location preferences, and requests are fulfilled in Priority Points order. Priority Points requirements vary each year for each lot, depending on the demand, and the Priority Points totals for other R Fund donors.

Are men’s and women’s basketball priority parking passes allocated the same way as football priority parking passes?

Men’s and women’s basketball parking is currently based on the number of season ticket purchases and Priority Points following the June 30th basketball Priority Points cut-off.  There is currently no minimum gift to R Fund required for basketball parking.  Season ticket holders with the most points are allocated their parking pass(es) first, beginning with the highest priority lot(s) requested. Once a season ticket holder is allocated the last parking permit in a lot, his or her Priority Points total is the cut-off for the lot.
