PISCATAWAY, N.J. (October 14, 2012) – After a 3-1 win over conference opponent Louisville on Friday, the Rutgers field hockey team (8-7) came up short against a tough Lafayette squad, 2-0, in a Sunday afternoon match in Easton, Pa.
The Leopards (12-1) put up points early in the game with a Haley Keenan goal in the fourth minute of action. The second Lafayette goal, which would prove to be the game-winner, came in the fifteenth minute from senior Deanna Dicroce.
The Scarlet Knights couldn’t rebound from the two first half goals, but junior goalkeeper Sarah Stuby (Roxbury, N.J.) showed resilience and recorded ten stops on the day.
Sunday’s game was the first in a four-game road stretch for the Scarlet Knights. RU is back in action next Friday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. and will go head-to-head with Providence for the final BIG EAST game of the regular season. Rutgers will stay in Providence, R.I., to face Brown on Sunday, Oct. 21 for a noon game.
