Rutgers Field Hockey Adds Five to 2014 Roster
Scarlet Knights welcome four from New Jersey, one from British Columbia

  • PISCATAWAY, N.J. (March 18, 2014) – Rutgers field hockey has announced the addition of five players to its roster, head coach Meredith Long announced Tuesday. Jade Dixon (Berlin, N.J.), Simrin Dhillon (Vancouver, British Columbia), Haley Meade (Freehold, N.J.), Victoria Crans (Glen Gardner, N.J.) and Jessica Carey (Bordentown, N.J.) will join the Rutgers squad for the 2014 season.

    Jade DixonJade Dixon, Forward
    Berlin, N.J./Eastern Regional HS

    Prior to Rutgers: Helped her team to a 104-1-1 record in four seasons at Eastern Regional HS, scoring 113 goals, 23 assists … Four-time state champion … Helped her team to a No. 1 ranking in the nation three times by Top of the Circle … Named First Team All-South Jersey in 2013, earning second team honors in 2010 and 2012 … Selected to First Team All-Olympic Conference in 2010 and 2013, and Second Team All-Olympic Conference in 2012 … Named second team all-state in 2013, and third team all-state in 2010 and 2012 … Played club field hockey for Spirit of USA, winning the club championships in 2011 and 2012 … Helped her Spirit of USA squad to first place in the National Field Hockey Festival and the Disney Field Hockey Showcase from 2010 to 2013 … Parents are Joel and Sheila Dixon … Has two younger brothers, Tyler and Bryce … Born on Feb. 23, 1996.

    Vancouver, British Columbia/Crofton House School

    Prior to Rutgers: Member of the Crofton House School varsity team for five years … Helped her team earn second place at the AA Provincials in 2013 and third place at the same event in 2011 … Chosen to the U18 British Columbia Team Yellow in 2013, being named a team captain, and placed fourth at the U18 National Championships … Selected to U16 British Columbia Team White in 2011, being named team captain … Helped Team White place second at the U16 National Championships … Competed at the US National Festival twice, earning first place in 2012 and third place in 2013 … Invited to the U17 Canada Junior National Development Camp in 2011 … Played for India Field Hockey Club for five years, being a member of the India Field Hockey Premier Team, taking second at the Canada Cup in 2012 … Placed first at the U18 Club Championships in 2011, 2012 and 2013 … Placed first in the U16 Club Championships in 2010 and 2011 … First Class Honors with Distinction student for four years … A grade 8 in the Royal Conservatory of  Music program for piano … Helped as a volunteer coach at the Field Hockey British Columbia Learn to Train Program (2013) … Coached the U11 girls team in the Vancouver Hawks Field Hockey Club … Member of the varsity rowing team for three years … Also a swimmer and snowboarder … Parents are Dr. Parmjit Dhillon and Kacy Dhillon … Has one brother, Pritum ... Born on July 3, 1996.


    Haley MeadeHaley Meade, Midfield
    Freehold, N.J./Freehold Boro HS

    Prior to Rutgers: Four-year member and two-year captain of the Freehold varsity field hockey team … Scored 32 career goals and tallied 45 assists … Named First Team All-State Group 4 as a senior and First Team All-State Group 3 as a junior … Earned first team all-county as a junior and senior … Selected First Team All-Shore Conference three times … In four season, helped her team to two Group 3 State Championships, three state sectional championships and appeared in three Shore Conference tournament finals … Member of Futures, USA Field Hockey’s Olympic development program, for four years, being selected for the National Futures Championship in 2012 and 2013, taking third place in 2012 … Chosen to Futures Elite in 2014 … Played in the club circuit for the Spirit Eagles, taking first place at the National Hockey Festival and the Disney Showcase in 2012, and winning the National Indoor Tournament in 2011 … Named to honor roll all four years as a student … Member of the student government, Lead for Diversity and Special Heroes in high school … Parents are Linda and Ralph Meade … Has two older brothers, Dylan and Curtis … Father wrestled at Gettysburg College … Dylan wrestled at Johns Hopkins for two years, while Curtis is a member of the water polo team at Maryland … Born on Sept. 14, 1995.


    Victoria CransVictoria Crans, Forward/Midfield
    Glen Gardner, N.J./Vorhees HS

    Prior to Rutgers: Played four years of varsity field hockey at Vorhees, starting for three seasons … Named a team captain as a senior in 2013, leading the team in assists … Earned first team all-conference, first team all-county and First Team NJFHCA honors in 2012 and 2013 … Selected First Team All-West Jersey in 2013 and Third Team All-West Jersey in 2012 … Participated in the 2013 Senior All-Star game … Played three years of club field hockey for X-Calibur and three years for Total Dutch … Earned high honor roll grades all four years … Member of the National Honor Society and World Language Honor Society … Chosen as the 2011 Vorhees Respectful Student Award recipient … Participated in four years of varsity track and field … Parents are Karen Laur-Crans and Scott Crans … Has two younger siblings, Alexandria and Benjamin … Born on Oct. 30, 1995.


    Jessica CareyJessica Carey, Midfield/Forward
    Bordentown, N.J./Bordentown Regional HS

    Prior to Rutgers: Started on the varsity squad all four years at Bordentown Regional, serving as a captain for one season … Amassed 114 career points … Holds the school record for season goals (26) and season points (68), while leading the team in assists (16) as a senior … Helped her team to a 17-4-1 record and a No. 6 ranking in New Jersey Group 1 in 2013 … Earned All-South Jersey Second Team and all-division second team honors as a senior … Named all-county and all-area as a sophomore, junior and senior … Played in the BCSL Senior Showcase as a senior in 2013 … Won the Outstanding Athlete Award for NGAWS sponsored by NJSIAA in her final season … Recognized as team MVP as a junior and senior … Received the Outstanding Midfielder Award as a sophomore, junior and senior … Played for the Princeton Field Hockey Club team from 2012-14 … Member of USA Field Hockey all four years of high school … In the classroom, earned NFHCA Academic All-American honors as a senior … Member of the National Honor Society … Also participated varsity basketball and varsity spring track … Parents are John and Sandy … Has three younger siblings, Patrick, Dylan and Jack … Born on Nov. 6, 1995.
