PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers Stadium will host the men’s lacrosse team and the annual Scarlet-White spring football game Saturday, April 18. The men’s lacrosse team welcomes Penn State to Rutgers Stadium at 11:30 a.m. and the Scarlet-White spring game will begin at 2 p.m.
The Scarlet-White spring game marks the final practice of the spring for the football squad. The Scarlet Knights finished the 2008 season 8-5 overall and won seven consecutive games to end the season, including the program’s third consecutive bowl victory with a 29-23 win over NC State in the PapaJohns.com Bowl. Rutgers has also been one of the elite programs in the nation academically as the Scarlet Knights were ranked No. 3 in the nation in the most recent APR figures released by the NCAA.
The football team returns 16 starters and 48 letterwinners next season.
The Rutgers men’s lacrosse team is off to a 4-8 start this season, coming off a 10-5 loss to No. 5 Syracuse last Saturday at the Carrier Dome. Junior Gerhard Buehning (Essex Fells, N.J.) had two scores for RU and classmate Justin Pennington (Flemington, N.J.) added a goal to pace the Scarlet Knight offense.
Rutgers is 40-18 all-time against Penn State, including an 8-4 victory in 2008.
Tickets for the games are $5.
