PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers University football team will play seven games at the newly-expanded Rutgers Stadium in 2009, including a visit by ESPN’s Thursday night primetime crew for the fourth consecutive season. The Scarlet Knights open the year the weekend of Sept. 5 at home vs. BIG EAST foe Cincinnati.
Four consecutive non-conference games follow, including home games vs. Howard (Sept. 12), Florida International (Sept. 19) and an opponent to be determined (Oct. 10).
The Scarlet Knights hit the road for the first time in 2009 at Maryland on Sept. 26.
ESPN visits Piscataway on Friday, Oct. 16 as the Scarlet Knights host Pittsburgh. The Scarlet Knights travel to Army a week later on Friday night as ESPN2 televises the Oct. 23 matchup with the Black Knights.
Rutgers ends the month of October at Connecticut (Oct. 31).
ESPN’s Thursday night primetime crew will visit Rutgers Stadium on Nov. 12 as the Scarlet Knights host USF.
Another two-game road trip follows with trips to Syracuse (Nov. 21) and Louisville (Nov. 28) to close out the month of November.
For the second time in four years, Rutgers closes the regular season vs. West Virginia on Dec. 5. The game will be televised by ABC, ESPN or ESPN2.
Game times and complete television information will be released at a later date.
