Bethlehem, Pa. (October 21, 2012) – Rutgers sophomore Kortnie Maxoutopoulis (Pleasanton, Calif.) carded a 145 (72-75) to tie for first place at the Lehigh Invitational, played Saturday and Sunday on the Grace Course at the Saucon Valley Country Club. Her effort helped the Scarlet Knights to a fourth place finish with a 615 (301-314) total in the eight team field.
Senior Brittany Weddell (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) also performed well on the 6,005-yard course. She shot a 152 (74-78) to tie for seventh in the 45-player field.
Freshmen Melanie Chambers (Henderson, Nev.) and Samantha Moyal (Alameda, Calif.) and senior Karen Cash (Allendale, N.J.) comprised the rest of the team scorecard. Chambers tied for 19th with a 159 (80-79), Moyal tied for 33rd with a 165 (75-90) and Cash tied for 38th with a 168 (86-82).
Princeton won the Invitational with a 603, one stroke better than second place Seton Hall. The Scarlet Knights led after round one, but struggled during round two, dropping three positions.
Rutgers, under the leadership of head coach Maura Ballard, returns to the links at the Furman Lady Paladin Invitational, Oct. 26-28 in Greenville, S.C.
