STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Rutgers women’s golf placed 14th with a 951 (310-322-319) total at the 14-team Nittany Lion Invitational, played Friday through Sunday at the Penn State Blue Course. Freshman Taylor Clark (Sterling Heights, Mich.) tied for 50th in the 92-player field with a 235 (74-83-78) on the par 72, 6,263-yard course.
A pair of rookies led the Scarlet Knights, as fellow freshman Maddy Gedeon (Roseville, Calif.) supplemented Clark by shooting a 240 (79-80-81) to finish tied for 65th.
Sophomores Jackie Mullens (Brookside, N.J.), Samantha Moyal (Alameda, Calif.), Gabrielle Sacheli (Pittsford, N.Y.) and Racquel Zurick (West Trenton, N.J.) comprised the rest of the Rutgers scorecard. Mullens tied for 72nd with a 243 (78-80-85), Moyal tied for 72nd with a 243 (80-81-82), Sacheli was 77th with a 244 (80-86-78) and Zurick tied for 78th with a 245 (79-81-85).
Kent State won the Invitational with an 873, as they posted a third round 291 to put them nine strokes over par for the event. Jennifer Ha of Kent State carded a four-under par 212 to capture individual medalist honors.
The Scarlet Knights, under the leadership of head coach Maura Ballard, return to the links October 14-15 when they host the annual Rutgers Invitational at the Rutgers Golf Course in Piscataway
