NEW HAVEN, CT – The Rutgers women’s golf team placed ninth out of 12 schools, scoring 657 (329-328) in the two-day Yale Invitational held at the Yale University Golf Course this weekend. Penn State won the event with a combined score of 591 (293-298).

After missing the opening tournament of the fall season due to a back injury, freshman Jeannine Mondesando (Mawah, NJ) paced the Scarlet Knights at the Yale Invitational, firing a two round combined score of 153 (76-77) for a sixth place showing out of 69 competitors in the tournament. Futcher was the only woman to shoot under par for the tournament at the tough Yale University Course.

Sophomore Kathleen Kennedy (Annandale, NJ) finished in a tie for 29th place, with a combined score of 165 (82-83) for the weekend. Junior Amanda Lennox (Narragansett, RI) finished three strokes behind her teammate, shooting a two-day total of 168 (86-82) to finish tied for 38th place.

Senior Kathleen Freer (Vorhees, NJ), registered a two-day total of 171 (85-86) to tie for 45th place in the tournament. Just two strokes behind, sophomore Caitlin Flynn (Fairfield, CT) finished 49th with a two-round score of 173 (86-87).

The women will be back in action next Sat.-Sun., Sept. 28-29, as they travel to South Bend, IN to compete in the Notre Dame Invitational.
