After missing the opening tournament of the fall season due to a back injury,
freshman Jeannine Mondesando (Mawah, NJ) paced the Scarlet Knights at the Yale
Invitational, firing a two round combined score of 153 (76-77) for a sixth place
showing out of 69 competitors in the tournament. The individual winner was Penn
State’s Katie Futcher who shot 137 (67-60) over two days.
Futcher was the only woman to shoot under par for the tournament at the tough Yale University Course.
Sophomore Kathleen Kennedy (Annandale, NJ) finished in a tie for 29th place, with a combined score of 165 (82-83) for the weekend. Junior Amanda Lennox (Narragansett, RI) finished three strokes behind her teammate, shooting a two-day total of 168 (86-82) to finish tied for 38th place.
Senior Kathleen Freer (Vorhees, NJ), registered a two-day total of 171 (85-86) to tie for 45th place in the tournament. Just two strokes behind, sophomore Caitlin Flynn (Fairfield, CT) finished 49th with a two-round score of 173 (86-87).
The women will be back in action next Sat.-Sun., Sept. 28-29, as they travel to South Bend, IN to compete in the Notre Dame Invitational.
