May-13-03 Rutgers Gymnastics Adds Eight for 2004
PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers University gymnastics team will add eight newcomers to the roster in 2004, announced head gymnastics coach Chrystal Chollet-Norton. Sharlene Evans (Lititz, PA), Elizabeth Fittery (Denver, PA), and Lorena Johnson (Lilburn, GA) have signed National Letter of Intent to compete at Rutgers, while Jackie Campbell (Wheatly Heights, NY), Alexis Leyh (Georgetown, DE), Rachael Romano-Joseph (Shutesbury, MA), Kelly Straka (Fairless Hills, PA) and Casey Santangelo (Cherry Hill, NJ) will also be a part of the 2004 Scarlet Knights gymnastics program.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Former Rutgers gymnast Mary (Pfeiffenberger) Peters has been named an assistant coach with the women’s gymnastics team, announced head coach Chrystal Chollet-Norton.

April-30-03 Caitlin Wight Named RU Gymnastics MVP
PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers gymnastics team named junior Caitlin Wight (Washington, PA) the team’s most valuable gymnast for the 2003 season. Senior Bonnie Hart (Oakridge, NJ) received the Noble Award, while classmate Kristen Marino (Hillsborough, NJ) was named the most improved gymnast.

April-12-03 Rutgers Finishes Competition at NCAA Northeast Regional
ANN ARNOR, MI – Rutgers senior Kristen Marino (Hillsborough, NJ) led the three Scarlet Knight gymnasts competing in the NCAA Northeast Regional with an eighth-place finish on vault Saturday evening at the University of Michigan.

March-31-03 Four RU Gymnasts Qualify for NCAA Regionals
PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers women’s gymnastics team will be represented in the 2003 Northeast Regional Championships by four gymnasts. Sophomore Sveta Shterenberg (Sharon, MA), senior Kristen Marino (Hillsborough, NJ) and junior Lisa Abrams (Mt. Ephraim, NJ) will compete in the regional competition, while junior Caitlin Wight (Washington, PA) will serve as an individual alternate.

March-29-03 Rutgers Gymnastics Finishes Eighth at EAGL Championships
DURHAM, NH - The Rutgers women’s gymnastics team finished eighth at the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championships with a team score of 193.025 Saturday night on the campus of the University of New Hampshire. UNH won the league championship with a 196.750, followed by North Carolina State’s 196.675 for second and North Carolina in third place with a 196.025.

March-28-03 Four RU Gymnasts Named to All-EAGL Team
DURHAM, NH - The Rutgers women’s gymnastics team had four of its members selected to the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) all-event teams this evening at the pre-championship awards banquet. RU’s honorees were Kristen Marino (Hillsborough, NJ), Lisa Abrams (Mt. Ephraim, NJ), Caitlin Wight (Washington, PA) and Sveta Shterenberg (Sharon, MA), all first-time award winners.

March-22-03 Rutgers Gymnasts Fall to No. 24 North Carolina
CHAPEL HILL, NC - The Rutgers women’s gymnastics team lost to the University of North Carolina on Saturday afternoon, March 22, in Chapel Hill, NC. The Tar Heels, ranked 24th nationally, took the meet, 195.000-193.000, dropping the Scarlet Knights to 14-13 for the season with a 0-7 mark in the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL).

March-19-03 11 RU Gymnasts Named to EAGL All-Academic Team
PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers women’s gymnastics team had 11 of its members selected to the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) All-Academic Team, the league announced Wednesday. In order to be named to the EAGL All-Academic team, student-athletes must have a grade point average of 3.00 or higher in the two previous semesters.

March-18-03 Marino Earns Second EAGL Specialist of the Week Honor
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers senior gymnast Kristen Marino (Hillsborough, NJ) was named the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Specialist of the Week. This is the second time this season that Marino has received the award, which honors gymnasts who compete in less than three events.
