Senior Kristen Marino (Hillsborough, NJ) was the Knights’ top vaulter, scoring a 9.700 for 11th place. Sophomore Sveta Shterenberg (Sharon, MA) took 13th with a 9.550, followed closely by senior Kamla Modi (Bayside, NY) in 14th with a 9.500. Penn State’s Katie Rowland scored a perfect 10.0 to take first place.
Marino won her third bars title of the season, scoring a 9.850 to finish first. Modi tied for fourth in the event with a 9.775, with Shterenberg and Stephanie Zick (Pittsburgh, PA) placed 11th and 12th with respective scores of 9.650 and 9.625.
Scoring a 9.825, junior Lisa Abrams (Mt. Ephraim, NJ) was the top beam performer for the Scarlet Knights, finishing fifth. Classmate Caitlin Wight (Washington, PA) finished in a tie for seventh, scoring a 9.700, with sophomores Nicci Bradder (Dover, NH) and Marinelle Antonio (Mt. Laurel, NJ) tied for ninth place with 9.625’s. The Nittany Lion’ Katie McAvoy scored a 9.900 to win the event.
On floor, Wight, Zick and freshman Erin Lynch (Mullica Hill, NJ) tied for 11th place, each scoring a 9.675. Rowland scored a 9.950 to take her second event crown of the afternoon.
In the all-around, Rowland placed first, scoring a 39.675 for the Nittany Lions, followed by TeShawne Jackson of West Virginia in second with a 39.500. Shterenberg, who has not competed in the all-around for several weeks, finished sixth with a 38.225 overall.
Rutgers will return home to host Bridgeport on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. in the Livingston Recreation Center.
