PISCATAWAY, N.J. (October 27, 2009) – The Rutgers gymnastics program took part in the Scarlet Day of Service, held at the Livingston Recreation Center Saturday afternoon.
The team worked with Quilts For Kids, a non-profit organization of volunteers who collect spare fabric and help design a make quilts to help comfort children in hospitals. The Scarlet Knights worked with the Quilts For Kids organization in Kendall Park to help make a quilt that will be delivered to the Children’s Hospital at St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick. The gymnasts participated in making quilts as well as designing fabric patches that will be used for future quilts.
Members of the Rutgers University community participated in the 3rd Annual Scarlet Day of Service - an entire day dedicated to community service! Volunteers participated in service projects throughout the New Brunswick/Piscataway area. This program was co-sponsored with Residence Life.
The Rutgers gymnastics program will open its season Jan. 9, 2010 against New Hampshire at the Livingston Gymnasium.
