PISCATAWAY, N.J. (September 7, 2010) – The Rutgers men’s lacrosse team will hold a “Day for Doc” on Saturday, Oct. 9, to honor long-time friend of the program Dr. Earle Peterson.
Peterson has been associated with the Rutgers lacrosse program for over 40 years as a supporter, fan, contributor, advisor to players and coaches and a valued friend. This year Doc has stepped away from lacrosse to be with his family in his home in Cooperstown, N.Y.
“That familiar figure of Doc on the Rutgers sideline will be absent after all these many years,” said former RU head coach Tom Hayes. “We honor Doc and his loyalty to all the Rutgers athletic teams with this event to recognize this special person. He is a Cornell graduate, who has witnessed more Rutgers games in the past 40 years than anyone else associated with the Rutgers team. Therefore, we proposed this event for him.”
