PISCATAWAY, N.J. (May 7, 2013) – Highlighted by redshirt sophomore Hollie DiMuro (West Babylon, N.Y.) and senior Lily Kalata (Nesconset, N.Y.) on the first team, three Rutgers women’s lacrosse standouts have been named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Mid-Atlantic regional teams, the organization announced Tuesday.

This marks the first time since 1999 that two Scarlet Knights have been named to the IWLCA Regional All-American First Team. Junior Chelsea Intrabartola (Commack, N.Y.) was named to the All-Regional Second Team.

DiMuro anchored a defense that ranked sixth in the nation in goals allowed (7.76). The defender ranked 26th in the NCAA in caused turnovers (1.56) and ground balls per game (2.5). DiMuro finished third in the BIG EAST with 40 ground balls this season. This marks the first regional selection for DiMuro.

Kalata, a four-time all-regional selection, finished second in the BIG EAST with a 7.76 GAA and third in save percentage (.456). In the NCAA, Kalata’s goals against average was good for ninth place, while her save percentage ranked 19th overall. This marks the first time the goalie has been selected to the region’s first team.

Intrabartola was also a rock on the sixth-best scoring defense. The defender started 15 games, collecting 16 ground balls while forcing 10 turnovers. This honor is the first for the junior.

Head coach Laura Brand-Sias has now mentored 31 all-region selections in her tenure at Rutgers.

These athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams, which will be announced on May 17. The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on May 25, 2013 at the Radisson Hotel Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa.
