TOWSON, Md. – Rutgers women’s lacrosse incoming freshman Stephanie Anderson (Wading River, N.Y.) was tabbed Most Valuable Player at the 2009 Girls Senior Game of the Under Armour All-America Classic, leading the North squad to a 12-9 victory over the South on Saturday, June 27, at Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson, Md.

Anderson scored a game-high three goals and added an assist on the afternoon. The game featured the top 44 senior girls as selected by a committee made up of the nation's most knowledgeable figures in high school lacrosse.

“It’s such an honor,” said Anderson “Being able to play with the top girls in the nation, and being able to get MVP is a great feeling.”

Anderson became the second Scarlet Knight to receive the distinguished selection to the All-America game following senior Brooke Cantwell (Moorestown, N.J.) who was named to the inaugural Under Armour team in 2006.

Anderson was a midfielder at Shoreham Wading River High School where she served as a captain of the two-time New York State Champion team. She ranked eighth in the nation as a Top Rising Senior by Inside Lacrosse magazine after recording 51 goals and 16 assists her junior year.
