PISCATAWAY, NJ – The duo of Jason Cappadoro and Adam Marksberry combined to score seven goals as 18th-ranked Stony Brook (4-1) held off a fierce rally by 16th-ranked Rutgers (2-3) to earn a 13-9 victory over the Scarlet Knights in men’s lacrosse action on Tuesday evening in Piscataway.

STORRS, CT – The No. 9/10 Rutgers women’s basketball team (27-6, 14-2 BIG EAST) snapped the nation’s longest winning streak and earned a spot in the Sweet Sixteen with a 61-54 victory against No. 15/15 Temple (28-4, 16-0 Atlantic 10) in the second round of the NCAA Tournament March 22 in Storrs, CT.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – For the second consecutive week Rutgers senior goalie Lyndsey Feldman (Ft. Myers, FL) was named the BIG EAST Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

March-20-05 Rutgers Survives Ninth-Inning Scare to Sweep Minnesota
MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Leading 7-3 heading into the ninth, Rutgers survived a late Minnesota rally and held on for a 7-6 win, sweeping three games from the defending Big Ten Champions. Johnny Defendis (Staten Island, NY) led RU offensively with four hits, two runs and an RBI, finishing the weekend 10-for-21. Sophomore Steve Holt (Toms River, NJ) picked up his first collegiate victory in his first collegiate start, allowing two runs in 5.1 strong innings before Ryan Bradley (Overland Park, KS) preserved the win by recording the final three outs. With the win, RU is now 9-7, while UM falls to 4-10.

STORRS, CT – The No. 9/10 Rutgers women’s basketball team (26-6, 14-2 BIG EAST) used 22 points from senior All-American Cappie Pondexter (Chicago, IL) to defeat Hartford (22-9, 13-5 America East) 62-37 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament March 20 in Storrs, CT.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – The Rutgers University softball team (0-16) fell to the University of Toledo (13-9) on the final day of competition at the Cavalier Classic on Sunday, March 20, by a score of 13-2.
