Rutgers Adds Miller and Restrepo to Athletic Communications Staff

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers University Athletic Communications welcomes Allison Miller and Alex Restrepo to its staff for the 2009-10 season.

Miller, a native of Greenville, R.I., joins the Scarlet Knights staff after graduating from the University of Massachusetts Honors Program in May 2009. A Sports Management major, Miller worked in the media relations office at UMass for four years. While there, she was a full-time student assistant responsible for the promotion of five squads. In addition, Miller assisted in coverage for the men’s basketball, football and men’s lacrosse teams.

Miller completed an internship last summer with the New England Professional Golf Association, helping to run over 60 events for the junior section of the circuit. She was part of the Key Players Project in the fall of 2008.

At Rutgers, Miller will serve as the primary media contact for women’s soccer, women’s swimming and diving and softball. She will be the secondary contact for the women’s basketball team.

Restrepo comes to Rutgers after a stint with the New England Patriots. He assisted with game notes and was responsible for updating statistical information for the media on a weekly basis. Restrepo was also a media relations volunteer at Super Bowl XLIII.

Restrepo is a 2007 graduate of Louisiana State University with a B.A. in Mass Communication. He worked in the LSU Sports Information Office for three years, managing publicity efforts for the men’s tennis, men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams. In addition to SID duties, Restrepo also served as a photographer for LSU athletic events. 

The Covington, La., native also assisted the New Orleans Saints Communications Department from 2005-07.

Restrepo will be working with women’s volleyball, wrestling and men’s lacrosse at Rutgers. He will assist with men’s basketball.
