WORPISCATAWAY, N.J. (November 2, 2009) – Rutgers Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Tim Pernetti announced Monday that Rutgers has extended its contract with WOR-710 AM to continue as the flagship radio home for Rutgers Football and Men’s Basketball in New York City. WOR-710 AM will continue to hold the broadcasting rights to both sports through the 2013-14 season.

WOR-710 AM has served as the flagship radio station for Rutgers Football since 1992.

“WOR has been a terrific partner and a vital part of our ever-expanding Rutgers Football Radio Network and we are thrilled to extend our agreement for an additional five years,” said Pernetti. “We look forward to continuing to grow our partnership in many ways on and off the air, with one of the nation’s top radio stations.”

WOR-710 AM is a 50,000-watt radio station with a signal that reaches the entire New York metropolitan area. The Rutgers Football Radio Network also includes WCTC-1450 AM in Central Jersey along with broadcasts on either WPHT-1210 AM in Philadelphia/South Jersey or WPEN 950-AM in Philadelphia/South Jersey.
