Syracuse, N.Y. (March 31, 2012) - The Rutgers rowing team competed against host Syracuse, Boston University and No. 16 Cornell in the Kittell Cayuga Combo Saturday at the James A. Ten Eyck Boathouse.
The Scarlet Knights were edged in the V8 and V4 races. The 1V lineup of Katie Quinn (coxswain), Stephanie Ford, Raelyn Loiselle, Kat Geithman, Katie Bakaj, Kathleen Lai, Laura Ford, Kara Trivolis and Jenelle Scheffler ranked behind Syracuse with a time of 7:10.2.
Temperatures were in the mid-30s with wind chills below freezing at the Onondaga Lake Outlet, with slight waves in the first 500 meters of the downwind course and calm as the boats entered the outlet.
In the second varsity eight boat consisted of: Ellie Kleiman (coxswain), Emily Nowlin, Amanda Baydar, Brittany Somers, Emilia Topp, Veronica Leach, Andrea Samulewski, Fran Carrone and Joanna Witynska. The boat ranked second behind BU in the consolation race with a time of 7:33.2.
The varsity four finished third in the consolation race with a time of 8:26.9. The Cornell B team won, followed by BU. The V4 lineup consisted of: Alex Zebrowski (coxswain), Katelyn Meyler, Gabby Oliviera, Morgan Knigge and Julia Dawidowicz.
The Scarlet Knights take a week off from competition, returning to the water on Saturday, April 14 in Cherry Hill, N.J. for the Knecht Cup.
