PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Oct. 25, 2012) – Rutgers rower Katherine Geithman (Falls Church, Va.) earned the Athletic Director’s Excellence Award, it was announced on Thursday.
Geithman, along with all RU special award winners for the 2012-13 season, will be honored in a halftime ceremony of the homecoming football game against Kent State on Saturday, Oct. 27. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
The Athletic Director’s Excellence Award is given to any student athlete who has attended Rutgers for at least four semesters, accumulated a G.P.A of 3.5 or higher, earned All-American honors nationally (minimum: honorable mention) or regionally (first team only), and who has demonstrated leadership and performances of community service.
Geithman, a political science and psychology major, was a four-year member of the rowing team. An All-Mid-Atlantic First Team honoree in 2012, Geithman served three years as team captain. She was named to the 2012 All-BIG EAST First Team and earned Second Team honors in 2011. A College Rowing Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete, she was also selected to the BIG EAST Academic All-Star Team. Geithman added to her academic accolades, as she received the Phi Beta Kappa Academic Excellence Award, the 2012 BIG EAST Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award, was a member of the Dean’s List and National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
