The Rutgers rowing team opened its spring 2013 season on Saturday March 30, at the 31st Memorial Murphy Cup Regatta in Cherry Hill, N.J., on the Cooper River.
The varsity eight placed second in the petite finals, posting a time of 6:56.59, trailing Drexel by just over one second. The Scarlet Knights also came in second in their preliminary heat with a time of 06:48.51, falling just short to Bucknell (06:39.95).
Racing in the 1V line up were: Raelyn Loiselle,Bailey Irelan, Jennelle Scheffler, Shannon Haines, Katie Bakaj, Morgan Knigge, Laura Ford, Stephanie Ford, Brighid Parker.
The JV8+ finished second in its heat, ahead of Temple, La Salle and Bucknell. Navy won the heat. The JV8 lineup consisted of: Melissa Mc Cleery, Kate Meyler, Andrea Samulewski, Veronica Leach, Gabby Oliveria, Emily Goodman, Emila Topp, Amanda Dothe, Kristina McGinnis

Rutgers’ next stop is Kingston, R.I. on April 6. The Scarlet Knights will be facing Rhode Island.
