RU Heavyweights Defeat Columbia to Win Collins Cup

  • PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers heavyweight crew began the spring season by winning three of four races to claim the Collins Cup March 29 on the Raritan River.

    RU’s varsity eight, ranked 20th in the USRowing Preseason Collegiate Men’s Varsity Eight Poll, (6:23.0) defeated Columbia (6:34.3) to claim the Cup. Also earning wins for the Knights were the varsity four (8:03.9) and the second varsity eight (6:49.5).

    The Scarlet Knights will next be in action Saturday, April 5, when RU hosts Princeton as the two teams square off for the Logg Cup on the Raritan River.
