VILLANOVA, PA – Four days after suffering a frustrating 1-0 loss at Georgetown on Saturday, the Rutgers University men’s soccer team returned to competition today and registered a 5-0 win over Villanova in BIG EAST men’s soccer action. Freshman Sammy Castellanos (Philadelphia, PA), playing just a few miles away from his home and high school, set the tone with a goal and three assists, while Sherif El Bialy (Cairo, Egypt) put an exclamation point on the match with two additional tallies.

September-21-02 Georgetown Upends Rutgers, 1-0, in Men's Soccer Action
WASHINGTON, DC – The Georgetown University men’s soccer team scored a goal at the 23:54 mark and then held off Rutgers to secure a 1-0 win today in BIG EAST action at North Kehoe Field. With the loss, RU fell to 2-2-1 overall and 2-1 in BE play, while Georgetown improved to 2-3-0 (1-1 BE).

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Inclement weather, including bouts of lightning and heavy rain, forced the postponement of Sunday's Rutgers-Boston College men’s soccer match at Yurcak Field. A make-up date has not been set.

September-07-02 Rutgers Opens BIG EAST Play with 3-0 Win at Providence
Providence, RI (September 7, 2002) – Sophomore forward Chris Karcz (Clifton, NJ) registered his first goal of the season to open the scoring, then assisted on the final score, to lead 13th-ranked Rutgers to a 3-0 win over Providence College in BIG EAST men’s soccer action. With the win, RU improves to 1-1-1 overall and 1-0 in league play, while Providence falls to 1-2-0.

August-31-02 Butler Shuts Down #7 Rutgers Men’s Soccer, 3-0
BLOOMINGTON, IN – Less than 24 hours after playing top-ranked Indiana evenly for 110 minutes, the Rutgers University men’s soccer team fell to unranked Butler, 3-0, in its final game of the adidas/IU Credit Union Soccer Classic at Armstrong Stadium. Butler scored three times in the first half and held off the Scarlet Knights, who fell to 0-1-1 on the season. Butler improved to 1-1-0.

August-30-02 #7 Rutgers, #1 Indiana Play to Scoreless Tie
BLOOMINGTON, IN – The Rutgers University men’s soccer team opened its 2002 season Friday night at Armstrong Stadium and played the top-ranked Indiana Hoosiers to a 0-0 tie. The tie snapped a four-match losing streak vs. the Hoosiers, including two losses last season. The match served as a thrilling nightcap for the adidas/IU Credit Union Soccer Classic.

August-25-02 Rutgers Falls to UMass, 4-3, in Final Exhibition Match
CHICOPEE, MA – The No. 7 Rutgers University men’s soccer team fell, 4-3, to Massachusetts Sunday evening at Szot Park in its final tune-up before the regular season opener Friday against the top ranked Hoosiers.

August-23-02 Rutgers Men's Soccer Down's Richmond in Exhibition, 2-0
PISCATAWAY, NJ - The No. 7 Rutgers University men's soccer team defeated the University of Richmond 2-0 in an exhibition match Aug. 23 at Yurcak Field.
