PISCATAWAY, N.J. (October 11, 2012) – The Rutgers men’s soccer team (5-5-1, 1-2-1) returns to Yurcak Field on Friday, Oct. 12 to face BIG EAST foe DePaul (3-8-2, 0-4). Game time is set for approximately 8 p.m. and will be the second half of a soccer doubleheader with the women’s squad.
Rutgers is coming off a narrow 2-1 miss against No. 1 Maryland on Tuesday night. Sophomore Thomas O’Rourke (Lawrenceville, N.J.) scored his first career goal just 1:13 into the match to give the Scarlet Knights the early lead. UM answered with two scores over the next 31 minutes to earn the victory.
On the season, the Scarlet Knights are paced by junior forward Kene Eze (Sayreville, N.J.) and freshman midfielder Mael Corboz (Green Brook, N.J.). Eze owns five goals, while Corboz has posted three goals and four assists.
RU owns a 3-3-1 all-time record against DePaul, coming away with a 1-0 victory on Oct. 15, 2011.
The Blue Demons halted a three-game skid with a 1-1 draw against Valparaiso on Tuesday night. DePaul is paced by Antonio Aguilar with eight points on four goals in 2012. In net for DPU will be Eric Sorby, who owns a .172 GAA with 54 saves and a 3-8-2 record.
Head Coach Craig Blazer is in the midst of his 12th year with the Blue Demons. Blazer led DPU to its sixth-straight BIG EAST Tournament appearance in 2011.
