PISCATAWAY, N.J. (July 31, 2013) – Scarlet Knight fans can now purchase season tickets for Rutgers men’s and women’s soccer for the upcoming 2013 season.
Season tickets for either RU men’s or women’s soccer are $50 for adults, $40 for children 12 & under and seniors 55 & older and include a free t-shirt with each ticket purchase. Season tickets can be purchased by calling the box office at 732-907-1570.
Rutgers men’s soccer, celebrating its 75th anniversary this season, has 11 home dates at Yurcak Field including competition against eight teams that reached the 2012 NCAA Tournament and three squads ranked in the top ten of the final polls. Among the Scarlet Knights opponents coming to Piscataway this fall are future BIG TEN rival Penn State, as well NCAA Tournament teams Akron, SMU and South Florida.
The RU men’s soccer team returns 13 letterwinners and eight starters from last year’s squad that ranked No. 35 in the final RPI. Among the returning Scarlet Knights are Second Team All-BIG EAST honoree and leading scorer Kene Eze (Sayreville, N.J.) and Second Team All-BIG EAST and All-Rookie team member Mael Corboz (Green Brooke, N.J.). The incoming freshman class has garnered preseason recognition being named among the top 35 recruiting classes in the nation by Top Draw Soccer. Additionally incoming rookie Erik Sa (Watchung, N.J.) named one of the top ten midfielders by College Soccer News and fellow newcomer Spencer Hambleton (Scotch Plains, N.J.) named Second Team-America by Elite Soccer Report.
Rutgers women’s soccer will play 11 home matches in 2013, the most since matching that mark in 2009. Highlighting RU’s home schedule is NCAA Tournament qualifier and in-state rival, Princeton. The Scarlet Knights, who seek their 14th consecutive conference tournament berth and second-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament, will also get a rematch against Connecticut.
RU women’s soccer, which was ranked as high as No. 16 in the NSCAA Coaches Poll last season, returns 26 letterwinners and nine starters from last season’s NCAA Tournament squad. Among those returning are 2012 NSCAA All-American Jonelle Filigno (Mississauga, Canada), long-time Scarlet Knights veteran Tricia DiPaolo (Sparta, N.J.) and 2012 All-BIG EAST Rookie Team member Hayley Katkowski (Westford, Mass.). With most of its frontline intact, the squad boasts 84 percent of its scoring from last season to go with its nine-player incoming freshman class.
