    PISCATAWAY, N.J. (August 23, 2013) – Sophomore midfielder Mael Corboz (Green Brook, N.J.) was named a Second Team Preseason All-American by College Sports Madness it was announced on Friday

    Corboz along with returning leading scorer Kene Eze (Sayreville, N.J.) were both selected to College Madness’ American Preseason All-Conference First Team.  Sophomore Mitchell Taintor (Storrs, Conn.) was a Second Team Preseason All-Conference selection.

    Corboz was a Second Team Freshman All-American by College Soccer News and Soccer America following a rookie season that saw him score three goals and assist on seven others.  Also named Second Team All-BIG EAST and earning a nod to the conference’s All-Rookie Team, Corboz’s seven assists were the most by a Scarlet Knights since 2001.

    Eze led the Knights last season with eight goals, including four game-winners.  A Second Team All-BIG EAST selection, he ranked seventh in the league in points per game and fifth in goals per game.

    Taintor, a BIG EAST All-Rookie honoree a year ago, made his mark early in his freshman campaign capturing the game-winning goal in his first RU appearance and ended last season with a trio of goals.

    The Rutgers men’s soccer team hosts No. 25 Virginia on Saturday, August 24 at 7 p.m. at Yurcak Field in its final exhibition tune up prior to the kick-off of the 2013 season.  Admission is free.

    The regular season gets underway at the Duke Soccer Classic with RU opening against the host Blue Devils on August 30 followed by a meeting with Elon on September 1.  The Scarlet Knights host Penn State for an early taste of Big Ten action in their home opener on September 6.

    Season tickets for RU men’s soccer are now on sale and are $50 for adults, $40 for children 12 & under and seniors 55 & older. All packages include a free t-shirt.  Season tickets can be purchased by calling the box office at 732-907-1570.
