PISCATAWAY, N.J. (December 10, 2013) – Two Scarlet Knights landed on NSCAA/Continental Tire Division I Men’s Soccer All-Northeast Region teams it was announced on Tuesday. Sophomore midfielder Mael Corboz (Green Brook, N.J) was a second team honoree while senior Kene Eze (Sayreville, N.J.) was a third team selection.
Corboz finished the 2013 campaign tied for the team lead in points (20) coming from seven goals and a team-leading six assists. A First Team All-American Athletic Conference (AAC) member, he registered multiple goal games against Penn State and Princeton, along with game-winners against South Carolina and AAC Tournament top seed and seventh ranked Louisville.
Following a three-goal, two-assist weekend in helping RU to victories over Princeton and South Carolina, Corboz was named the AAC. NSCAA and Top Drawer Soccer Player of the Week. He was also honored by a nod to Top Drawer Soccer’s National Team of the Week after notching the game-winner against Louisville in the AAC quarterfinals.
Eze, who missed six games due to injury, stormed back to the field to end the year tied with Corboz as the Scarlet Knights’ leader in points (20). He finished the season with a team-leading eight goals along with four assists. He exploded for four goals in the AAC play-in victory over Cincinnati, marking the most goals by a player in the American in 2013. It was also a new career high for the senior Scarlet Knight having previously registered six points stemming from a trio of goals against Adelphi back on Sept. 27, 2011.
The senior Scarlet Knight ended his career “On The Banks” with 22 goals, eight assists and 52 points.
