August 28, 2008 Rutgers Set for Patriot League Filled Weekend
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers women's soccer team will take on two Patriot League opponents over the weekend, facing Lehigh on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Bethlehem, Pa., before returning home to take on Bucknell on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. The Scarlet Knights are 1-0 on the season, while Bucknell is 1-0-1 and Lehigh has yet to play.

August 23, 2008 Rutgers Opens Season With 3-1 Win Over George Washington
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Senior forward Kristen Edmonds (Metuchen, N.J.) tied her career-high with two assists to lead Rutgers to a 3-1 win over George Washington, Saturday night at Yurcak Field. After going into halftime down 1-0, the Scarlet Knights scored three times in the second half to pick up the victory.

August 21, 2008 Carli Lloyd Scores Gamewinner to Give USA the Gold
BEIJING, China – Former Rutgers standout Carli Lloyd scored the gamewinning goal in the 98th minute as Team USA defeated Brazil 1-0 in the Olympic gold medal match. In the opening minutes of the overtime, Lloyd sent a left-footed shot past Brazilian keeper Barbara for the triumph.

August 20, 2008 Rutgers Finishes Preseason With 2-1 Win Over Montreal
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Sophomore Ashley Jones (Feasterville, Pa.) scored her third goal of the preseason to help Rutgers defeat Montreal, 2-1, Wednesday afternoon at Yurcak Field. Senior Alicia Hall (Port Republic, N.J.) also scored for the Scarlet Knights, while junior goalie Erin Guthrie (Sparta, N.J.) recorded four saves in their final scrimmage of the season.

August 18, 2008 Lloyd, Team USA Advance to Olympic Women's Soccer Finals
BEIJING, China – Former RU standout Carli Lloyd played the entire match as Team USA came back from an early deficit to defeat Japan 4-2 in the semifinals of the Olympic Women's Soccer Tournament. After trailing 1-0, the Americans tallied four goals before giving up another score in stoppage time of the second half.

August 17, 2008 Rutgers Wins Scrimmage Against Stony Brook, 4-1
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Sophomore Ashley Jones (Feasterville, Pa.) scored twice and the Rutgers women's soccer team enjoyed a 4-1 win over Stony Brook in a scrimmage at Yurcak Field on Sunday. Junior goalie Erin Guthrie(Sparta, N.J.) played well in limited action, allowing no goals while posting two saves.

August 15, 2008 USA Defeats Canada 2-1 In Olympic Women’s Soccer Quarterfinals
SHANGHAI, China – Three former or current Scarlet Knights saw action as Team USA defeated Canada 2-1 in overtime in the quarterfinals of the Olympic women's soccer tournament, Friday at the Shanghai Stadium in Shanghai, China. USA advances to the semifinals and will face Japan on Monday, Aug. 18, at 9 a.m. ET. The game will be broadcast live on MSNBC.

August 14, 2008 RU Well Represented in Olympic Women’s Soccer Quarterfinals
SHANGHAI, China – The US National Women's Soccer team will face a familiar foe when they play the Canadian National Team in the Quarterfinals of the Olympic women's soccer tournament, Friday at 6:00 a.m. ET at the Shanghai Stadium in Shanghai, China. Team USA, featuring former RU standout Carli Lloyd, finished first in Group G, while Canada, with Rutgers incoming freshman Jonelle Filigno (Mississauga, Ontario) and assistant coach Karina LeBlanc, finished third in Group E. The game will be broadcast live on the USA Network.

August 13, 2008 Rutgers Picked to Finish Fourth in BIG EAST Preseason Poll
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers women's soccer team was picked to finish fourth in the National Division, the league announced Tuesday. The Scarlet Knights received 86 points, trailing Georgetown by only one. The votes were cast by the league's 16 head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own teams.
