Providence, R.I. (October 22, 2012) – Rutgers women’s soccer redshirt senior goalkeeper Emmy Simpkins (Concord, N.C.) has been selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference announced Monday.

It marks the second career selection for the netminder and first this season. Simpkins made three saves in the shutout of instate rival Seton Hall last Friday night, helping the Scarlet Knights secure the fifth seed in the BIG EAST Tournament. Simpkins has earned a clean sheet in four of the last five matches moving her season total to 5.4.

For her career, Simpkins ranks seventh all-time at RU with 15.4 shutouts, just one away from surpassing Christine Caldwell and Robyn Jones for fifth.

Simpkins and the rest of the Scarlet Knights head Storrs, Conn. for the first round of the BIG EAST Tournament against UConn. The winner of the match will face No. 1 seed Marquette on Sunday.
