PISCATAWAY, N.J. (October 7, 2013) – The American Athletic Conference placed redshirt senior Jonelle Filigno (Mississauga, Canada) on its Weekly Honor Roll, the conference announced Monday. It is the second time this season Filigno earned a place on the honor roll, as she scored two goals in the Scarlet Knights’ (9-2-1, 2-1 AAC) 3-2 victory over Memphis (7-5, 0-3) Friday night.
With the goals, Filigno is now tied for the team lead in the category (seven), as she leads the squad with 17 points. The two-goal effort was Filigno’s first this season. The last time the forward scored two goals or more was on Oct. 14, 2012 in a 5-0 win over Cincinnati, when she also scored twice. It was the seventh multi-goal game of her career, as she now has 32 strikes while donning Scarlet and White.
Four other Scarlet Knight have been placed on the honor roll this season. Redshirt senior Jess Janosz (Ringwood, N.J.) has received the award twice, with junior Stef Scholz (South Hackensack, N.J.), sophomore Sara Corson (Metuchen, N.J.) and freshman Madison Tiernan (Voorhees, N.J.) earning the honor once.
