PISCATAWAY, N.J.  (October 8, 2013) – The Rutgers women’s soccer team takes on a pair of Texas opponents at home this weekend, facing Houston on Thursday, Oct. 10 before battling SMU on Sunday, Oct. 13 at Yurcak Field.

RU (9-2-1, 2-1 AAC) looks to stay hot after dropping Memphis, 3-2, last Friday night at Yurcak Field. Redshirt senior Jonelle Filigno (Mississauga, Canada) scored two goals – including the game-winner – in the match for her seventh career multi-goal game.

Junior Stef Scholz (South Hackensack, N.J.) added the first goal of the match, as her and Filigno remain tied with seven scores apiece. RU has not had two players notch at least seven goals in the same season since Carli Lloyd and Keri Lages scored 15 and 13, respectively, in 2001.

With Houston’s visit Thursday, RU will play a first-time opponent for the second-straight match. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Sunday’s match against SMU marks “Dad’s and Daughters Day,” where $16 will get dads and daughters interested a pair of tickets to the match, a water bottle and a mini soccer ball.

Tickets for the promotion must be purchased in advance by calling the Rutgers Athletics Ticket Office at 866-445-GORU (4678).

Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m., as the game will be carried live by RVision, presented by AT&T.
