PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers senior forward Kristen Edmonds (Metuchen, N.J.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the league announced Monday. Edmonds factored in all three of RU’s goals over the weekend, with two tallies and one assist. The No. 22 Scarlet Knights (12-5-1, 7-3-1 BIG EAST) fell at No. 1 Notre Dame 3-1 on Friday before shutting out DePaul 2-0 on Sunday.
Edmonds scored in RU’s loss to the Irish, just the eighth goal that ND has given up this season. She then assisted fellow classmate Alicia Hall (Port Republic, N.J.) and scored herself in the Scarlet Knights’ 2-0 win over DePaul. She finished the regular season with five goals and six assists, tying her career-high in helpers.
The Scarlet Knights clinched a berth in the BIG EAST Championship for the ninth consecutive year. They finished as the third seed in the National Division, earning a first-round bye and a quarterfinal match at Marquette on Sunday, Nov. 2. It marks the fourth consecutive season that Rutgers reached the quarterfinals of the conference tournament.
