PROVIDENCE, R.I. (May 5, 2014) – For the second time this season, Rutgers softball left-hander Alyssa Landrith (Vacaville, Calif.) carved out a spot on the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll, the league announced Monday. Landrith went 2-0 in two starts and 14.0 innings pitched last week and did not allow an earned run in that span, cementing her spot on the final honor roll of the year

Against LIU-Brooklyn on May 1, Landrith tossed 4.0 innings of shutout softball and registered a pair of strikeouts in her 50th win as a Scarlet Knight. She is just the fourth pitcher in school history to reach that milestone.

In the squad’s series-opener at Houston (May 3), Landrith tossed one of the best games of her career. She went a career-high 10.0 innings and allowed just four hits and no runs. The victory improved her record to 16-7 and lowered her ERA to 2.33.

Overall six different Scarlet Knights have combined for nine weekly honors in RU’s first and only season in the American Athletic Conference, while two have been named Player of the Week.

Landrith’s selection marks the fourth consecutive week a Rutgers player earned a conference distinction. Freshmen Carly Todd (Deptford, N.J.) and Shayla Sweeney (Barrington, N.J.) were both honored on April 28, junior Jackie Bates (Lincroft, N.J.) made the honor roll on April 14 for the third time this year and sophomore Stephanie Huang (Paramus, N.J.) and junior Chandler Howard (Wilmington, Del.) earned conference honors on April 21.

Huang was selected to the honor roll while Howard became the second player to earn the Player of the Week award this season after senior Loren Williams (Los Angeles, Calif.) earned the distinction on Feb. 17. Landrith and Howard also both made the honor roll on March 17.

The Scarlet Knights (27-18, 9-9 American) wrapped up their regular season over the weekend and look ahead to a first round matchup against Houston in the inaugural American Athletic Conference Softball Championships. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST at Cougar Stadium.
