PISCATAWAY, N.J. (November 28, 2012) – The Rutgers swimming and diving team hits the road for the first time this season to face off with a pair of Virginia squads, Old Dominion and George Washington, in Norfolk, Va., on Saturday, Dec. 1. The meet is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
“We are looking forward to our first road trip of the year,” said head coach Phil Spiniello. We will be up against some tough competition and will need to swim and dive at a high level on Saturday in order to compete for the wins.”
RU kicked off the season with a solid start, and most recently closed November with the Frank Elm Invite, a three-day meet at the RU Aquatic center that featured seven women’s teams. The Scarlet Knights finished in second behind a tough Villanova squad with 1445 points.
The Rutgers divers had a huge weekend at Frank Elm, as Nicole Scott (Toronto, Canada) set a new school record in the platform event after a 269.76 point finish.
Earlier in the season Rutgers came away with a solid win in its first dual meet of the year against Wagner. RU had a solid performance from start to finish and claimed 13 total golds, including one from the 200 medley relay, and finished 1-2 in nine races and both diving events.
