PISCATAWAY, N.J. (February 13, 2013) – Rutgers sophomore Nicole Honey earned BIG EAST Athlete of the Week honors in women’s swimming and diving in the final weekly awards of the 2012-13 season as announced by the conference office Tuesday.
Over the weekend, the Scarlet Knights (9-2) hosted a BIG EAST quad meet, featuring Georgetown, Villanova and Seton Hall, which would prove to be RU’s final home meet of the year. RU came out with wins over Seton Hall (134-33) and Georgetown (287-66) but came up short against Villanova, 179-173.
Honey led all divers in both the one-meter and three-meter events, as she finished the one-meter with a top score of 288.15 and finished her six dives in the three-meter with a 317.00 mark. Honey has been consistent the entire season, finishing each meet in one of the top three spots.
The Scarlet Knights head to the BIG EAST Championships in Indianapolis, Ind., Feb. 27-Mar.2.
