On Friday, the 400 free relay squad of Melanie Gaffey (Bohemia, N.Y.), Shayna Longacre (Barto, Pa.), Jackie Klein (Campbell Hall, N.Y.), and Brittney Kuras (Canandaigua, N.Y.) touched the wall in 3:28.21 for the win. This time set a new pool record.

 

Catherine Whetstone (Haven Beach, N.J.) set a new pool record in the 100 back with a gold medal time of 55.85. Longacre also grabbed first in the 100 free with a time of 51.51. Freshmen Gaffey and Kuras took second and third respectively in the race. Kuras won the 200 breaststroke (2:21.24). Another rookie, Taylor Curado (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) won the 100 fly with a time of 56.95, while Klein came in second with a time of 57.66.

 

The 200 medley relay consisting of Brianne Lindblad (Kent, Wash.), Longacre, Curado and Gaffey also earned a gold Friday night.

 

On Saturday to start the day, the 200 free relay team – Gaffey, Longacre, Lindblad, and Kuras – set a new pool record with a time of 1:36.23. Senior captain Erin Saunders (Holmes, Pa.) delivered a first place finish in the one meter dive with a score of 270.15.  

Longacre won the 200 free in a time of 1:52.30 and also set a new pool record in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:04.15. In the 200 back, Lindblad touched first with a time of 2:04.86, while Tracy Dimond (Allentown, Pa.) took second (2:05.96).

Over the two days, the Scarlet Knights grabbed ten gold medals. RU returns to action at home on Nov. 14 against West Virginia. The meet kicks off at 1 p.m. RESULTS
