    PRINCETON, N.J. (December 9, 2012)  – Rutgers men’s track and field opened the 2012 indoor season on Sunday at the New Year’s Invitational in Jadwin Gym on the campus of Princeton University.

    The Scarlet Knights won three events, led by senior Kevin Bostick (Englewood, N.J.) who placed first in both the triple jump and high jump.  Bostick won the triple jump with a distance of 15.25m and took the top place in the high jump clearing 2.08m.  Classmate Glenn Scheideler (Randolph, N.J.) was not far behind in the high jump logging a distance of 2.04m for second place.

    Junior Corey Crawford (Oakland, N.J.) also took first place in the long jump, with freshman Emeka Eze (Sayreville, N.J.) in third jumping to distances of 7.60m and 7.00m respectively. Crawford's distance of 7.60m is currently the top in the country thus far this indoor season.

    Rutgers had a pair of second place finishes in other field events as senior James Plummer (South Toms River, N.J.) registered a throw of 16.25m in the shot put and senior Chris Wyckoff (Toms River, N.J.) cleared 4.70m on the pole vault.  Senior Pat Gray (East Windsor, N.J.) took third in the pole vault vaulting to a height of 4.55m.

    The 4x400 relay team of senior Monroe Kearns (Jackson, N.J.), junior Karon Purcell (East Windsor, N.J.), freshman Calvin Knox (Oakland, N.J), and freshman Kyle Holder (Randolph, N.J.) recorded a third place finish with a time of 3:24.48.

    The Scarlet Knights took second and third in the 600 meter run.  Kearns took second crossing the finish line with a time of 1:22.05 followed by Purcell in third clocking 1:22.26.

    In the 200 meter dash, sophomore D’Andre Jordan (Brooklyn, N.Y.) raced to a second place time of 35.50 with freshman Rajee Dunbar (Arlington, Va.) in fourth with a finish in 35.76.  Addtionally, sophomore Kadem Douse (Ewing, N.J.) logged second place in the 60 meter dash with his time of 6.96.

    The Scarlet Knight indoor track & field team returns to action hosting the Rutgers Invitational on Jan. 4-5.
