  • PISCATAWAY, N.J.  (February 13, 2013) – The Rutgers men’s indoor track & field team travels to the SPIRE Institute this weekend for the BIG EAST Track & Field Championships Feb. 16-17 in Geneva, Ohio. Events will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday with videostreaming, heat sheets and live results available at bigeasttrack.com.

Last season, the Scarlet Knights placed sixth taking home victories in the 4x400-meter relay and triple jump.

The Scarlet Knights have three field athletes who have logged the top performances among the conference members thus far this season.

Two-time BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week redshirt sophomore Corey Crawford (Oakland, N.J.) enters this weekend’s competition not only with the top long jump mark in the conference, but ranks 11th nationally.  Crawford leaped to a distance of 7.61m at the New Balance Invitational in early February.  Last season, Crawford placed second at the indoor championships at 7.39m.  Also in the long jump, teammate freshman Emeka Eze (Sayreville, N.J.) is second among all conference competitors after logging 7.25m at the Gotham Cup in early January.

In the pole vault, senior Chris Wyckoff (Toms River, N.J.) cleared the bar at a height of 5.12m at the Rutgers Invitational to lead the BIG EAST.  His performance not only set a Rutgers Indoor Bubble records, but also led the senior Scarlet Knight to BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week honors.  Last season, Wyckoff placed fifth in the event at the indoor championships at 4.80m.

Also leading the BIG EAST is senior Kevin Bostick (Englewood, N.J.) in the triple jump.  Bostick captured 15.33 at the Rutgers Invitational in early January.  Bostick also holds the conference’s third best high jump mark at 2.08m registered at Princeton’s New Years Invitational.
