GENEVA, Ohio. (February 16, 2013) – The Rutgers men’s indoor track & field team currently sits in seventh place after day one at the 2013 BIG EAST Indoor Track & Field Championships being held at the SPIRE Institute this weekend.
South Florida leads the standings after the first day of the championships, followed by Louisville and Notre Dame.
Redshirt sophomore Corey Crawford (Oakland, N.J.) took second place in the long jump with a distance of 7.36m. South Florida’s Neamen Wise won the title on his final jump of the event at 7.50m.
In the pole vault, Senior Chris Wyckoff (Toms River, N.J.) took third overall. He cleared the bar at a height of 5.00m on his third attempt. Wyatt Metzer of South Florida cleared a height of 5.00m on his first attempt for second place, while teammate Drew Volz cleared 5.10m to take the title.
In track action, senior Monroe Kerns (Jackson, N.J.) was one of eight to advance to Sunday’s finals in the 800m. He placed fourth overall in the preliminaries clocking a time of 1:52.38 (IC4A Qualifier).
