GENEVA, Ohio. (February 17, 2013) – The Rutgers men’s indoor track & field team wrapped up competition at the 2013 BIG EAST Indoor Track & Field Championships at the SPIRE Institute with a 10th place finish.
Connecticut took the BIG EAST conference title with Notre Dame in second and South Florida placing third.
Two Scarlet Knights reached the finals of the triple jump and high jump. In the triple jump, Senior Kevin Bostick (Englewood, N.J.) took third reaching a distance of 15.11m (IC4A Qualifier), while fellow classmate Adam Bergo (Plainfield, N.J.) followed in fourth place landing at a distance of 14.99m (IC4A Qualifier). The high jump saw senior Glenn Scheideler (Randolph, N.J.) clear a height of 2.04m (IC4A Qualifier) to tie for fourth place, while Bergo finished in seventh with a height of 2.04m (IC4A Qualifier).
In the shot put, senior James Plummer (South Toms River, N.J.) claimed eighth place with his throw of 15.72m (IC4A Qualifier).
Rutgers also had senior Monroe Kerns (Jackson, N.J.) in the finals of the 800m. Kearns took fourth with a time of 1:52.02 (IC4A Qualifier).
In day one action of the championships on Saturday, redshirt sophomore Corey Crawford (Oakland, N.J.) took second place in the long jump with a distance of 7.36m, while in the pole vault, senior Chris Wyckoff (Toms River, N.J.) took third overall as he cleared the bar at a height of 5.00m on his third attempt.
